MUFC Learn from the Best

This past Saturday (23rd January) the Marbella United FC Academy’s staff and players took a day off to go and watch Malaga C.F vs. Barcelona F.C.Utilizing the Malaga season passes that each player has we were able to go and see first hand currently the Club World Champions, Champions League Winners and La Liga Winners play. With world class players Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi on show it was a great day to see Barcelona win 2-1 against a very stubborn but solid Malaga Team. It was an extremely special day for our goalkeeper Angel Carillo who had this to say about his experience:“European soccer and their fans are very intense, even more so when a team like Barcelona comes into town. It's always a good experience and memory to see the worlds best player and team and see their patience and tranquillity so you can pick up some pointers on how to play, no matter what position you play. But my attention was focused on Guillermo Ochoa, the Mexican national team's keeper and ex club America player (my favourite club.) I waited near the corner of the field while the keepers warmed up so Guillermo could see his old club jersey. I was shocked he actually paid attention and hand singled me that he would signed it later. After the warm up he came, signed my jersey and gave me his gloves! The funny part was when some little kid was trying to take it away from me and he snatched back and gave it them to me. I have posters of him in my room and he was the reason why I decided to take goalkeeping more serious.”Angel Carillo who was given Malaga's GK's gloves before the game.Offering these types of experiences have been once in a lifetime for a lot of our players and is something they will treasure for years to come. Our players will also have the privilege of watching the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale when Malaga host Real Madrid next month.
