Buono shines in San Pedro Debut

What a whirlwind of a week for 18-year-old college freshman Tommy Buono (Virginia). On Thursday 21st January, it was decided that Buono and Intern Doug Stevenson would join James Queree at the Division 3 south coast club.Buono & Stevenson who have been training with U.D San Pedro the past 10 days obviously made a strong impression with the coaching staff for them to act quickly to secure their services. Buono (Left) & Stevenson (Right) Signed with Division 3 team U.D San PedroTommy was placed straight into the game-day squad along Queree where they both started the game yesterday (Sunday 24th January). With a game being played at home in glorious conditions, it was a dominating performance from the men in red & black. With the score at half time being 1-0, it was Buono who popped up in the 60th minute with a header that went top corner from around 8 yards out. The decisive goal gave the breathing space U.D. San Pedro needed and they carried on to dominate the opposing team by adding a third shortly after. Tommy had this to say about the last few days:“Playing my first game for San Pedro and starting was a great experience. I scored my first goal and to me it was the most important goal I've scored. It was a normal goal and a regular league game but, knowing that I'm getting closer and closer to where I want to be helps me to keep striving. I have a lot work on but I believe signing for San Pedro was the best option and a huge accomplishment and me. Hard work truly pays off. I'm very blessed and grateful for this opportunity.”Buono who was on trial with Marbella FC U18’s last semester, seems to have used that experience to help improve him as an overall player. The 6ft 2 striker will be looking to add to his tally next weekend.
