MUFC take on Real Betis

After a stellar performance against youth National League side Dynamo Kiev u18, MUFC had a quick turn around for their next challenge in another National League side and arguably Spain’s best, Real Betis u18. MUFC fielded a mixed squad consisting of u18s and Senior players showing that talent pool and competition to get into the lineup.

"It was a great opportunity to challenge my self and play against a division 1 professional academy." -Tyler Gromley (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

Marbella looked very settled from the first whistle due to the gained experience from playing against such top level opposition such as Villareal, Valencia, Malaga and Dynamo Kiev all within a short time. It shows how far the boys have come since August. The game was quick and fluid, Marbella United knew what to expect and had a few tricks up their sleeve as well for the Betis u18s. Tommy Buono (Virginia), recently signed with U.D. San Pedro, had two opportunities early on that the Betis keeper made some fantastic saves on to keep MUFC off the score sheet. As the game went on and either team had their spells, Betis was able to take the lead off of an unfortunate own goal off of a set piece. However, MUFC battled back with good possession of the ball created chances of their own but were unfortunate to not beat the Betis goalkeeper. The game finished as 0-2 in favor of Real Betis.

"The betis game was a great challenge against class opposition." - John Rogers (New York, New York)
"Playing Real Betis was a great experience, I think we played good football against some of the best Spanish youth players despite conceding two unlucky goals. We are definitely improving both offensively and defensively each game." -Runa Alvarado (Boca Raton, Florida)
