MUFC Select XI vs. Malaga C.F. U18’s

Under perfect conditions at the Marbella Football Centre, an MUFC XI pushed very good Malaga C.F U18s all the way however coming unstuck in a 2-1 loss. Malaga C.F U18’s whom currently sit joint top of their U18 national league came out firing with some very exciting football. Technically and tactically setting the level for the MUFC players to rise too.The score line became 2-0 before a host of changes gave MUFC a breath of fresh air, Kyo Adachi, (San Diego, California) had a huge impact in causing all sorts of problems for Malaga’s backline. It was in fact it was the Juniors sublime vision that allowed Jacob Labovitz (Great Falls, Virginia) to score MUFC’s only goal and bring the game back to 2-1. Even after Malaga C.F were reduced to 10 men late on they looked to play from the back and protect their lead with solid possession, however aggressive pressing from the team in Orange allowed them to create two more solid opportunities however it was not meant to be with Malaga holding on.Tonight was a great lesson against a great team, MUFC showed they can compete and move the ball as well as any team. It is experiences like tonight that show the team are moving in the right direction and highlights the areas the team need to work on.Other strong performances came from Tommy Buono, Annandale, Virginia, Gordon Bradley, Haymarket, Virginia and Lu Cary, Los Angles, California.Stay tuned to see upcoming friendlies versus La Liga academies over the next few weeks.
