New head coach Patrick Aussems joins MUFC staff
Welcome Back: Patrick Aussems Returns as Head Coach of Mendoza United FC
We’re thrilled to announce the return of Patrick Aussems as Head Coach of Mendoza United FC, effective August 2025. A former coach of the club during the 2017 season, Patrick rejoins MUFC with unmatched global experience and a renewed drive to shape the next generation of elite footballers. His professional journey spans decades, continents, and cultures—yet his mission remains the same: to elevate talent and build a winning identity on and off the field.
As a player, Patrick enjoyed a distinguished 17-year professional career as a central defender, earning over 250 appearances in the top divisions of Belgium and France. He played for renowned clubs such as Standard Liège, AA Gent, FC Seraing, and Troyes, competing in both the Belgian First Division and French Ligue 1 and 2. He represented Belgium at multiple national levels, including the senior national team, Olympic squad, U23s, and the military team. His resume includes more than 20 UEFA Cup matches, a Belgian league title, and a Belgian Super Cup win. Known for his intelligent reading of the game and composure at the back, Patrick’s playing career laid the foundation for his later success as a coach.
Transitioning seamlessly into management, Patrick has spent over three decades coaching across Europe, Asia, and Africa, earning accolades at every level. He held national team coaching roles not only with Benin, where he dramatically improved the team’s FIFA World Ranking and led them to the 2008 and 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, but also worked within the Belgian and French national systems, contributing to youth and senior team development. In France, he led Évian Thonon Gaillard FC to a national title and promotion to Ligue 1, while also managing Stade de Reims, Stade Beaucairois, and SS Capricorne. In Belgium, his coaching experience is rooted in both technical and developmental leadership. Abroad, he won championships with AC Léopards in Congo, led Al Hilal Omdurman to a Sudanese Super Cup and deep CAF Champions League run, and achieved domestic glory with Simba SC in Tanzania. More recently, he coached AFC Leopards in Kenya and Singida Black Stars in Tanzania through 2024.
Patrick holds a UEFA Pro License and is fluent in multiple languages. His ability to adapt to different footballing cultures, instill tactical discipline, and develop youth into professionals makes him an invaluable asset for Mendoza United. We are honored to welcome Coach Aussems back to MUFC, where his expertise and leadership will once again help us build a global-standard football program in the heart of Argentina.
