MUFC Win their final Showcase game of 2015

Marbella United FC finished strongly in their last showcase game of 2015, defeating Madrid based academy Iberos C.F 2-0. MUFC Showcase Roster:GK’s: Cook, KilpatrickDef’s: Sainvill, Pochobradsky, Alvarado, Veermeran, Navarro, BeckerMid’s: Etienne, Lopez, Stevenson, Carey, Man, Cavan,Fwd’s: Rogers, Scott, La Casse, Flores, Velasquez, Kuznicki, Adachi, LabovitzWith the roster being a selection of players that have been performing consistently for their selective teams, it was an opportunity of combining the best players out of MUFC Blue, Orange & U18’s to face Iberos C.F.Marbella United FC got off to a solid start taking early control of the game through the midfield trio of Stevenson, Man & Adachi. The trio were connecting passes and moving the ball from side to side to have the travellers working hard to keep their defensive shape. There was smart play from our full backs especially in left back, Cristian Navarro who saw the space in behind the opposing full backs for 17-year-old Jacob Lavovitz to run into who caused trouble throughout the afternoon.Iberos C.F quick to notice the skill and speed of the MUFC side especially in our flanks with Doural Scott and John Rogers occupying them, resulting in the away side playing with a deeper line. It was on 23 minutes that after some patient build up play on the right hand side saw Kyo Adachi find space to get his shot off and finish into the bottom corner making it 1-0. The game stayed pretty even for the rest of the half with Iberos C.F finding their rhythm and taking back their share of possession.Doural Scott in action for MUFCWith constant substitutions in the 2nd half it was impressive to see MUFC have continuity into their play, MC Lopez’s introduction helped energize the whole team, while Adrian Velasquez added a direct approach in running at the tired defenders in purple. In all honesty, Marbella United should of put the game beyond doubt by 70 minutes with 3 goal line clearances and two 1v1 saves by the Iberos goalkeeper. However they couldn’t prevail past the 76th minute where Velasquez squared a dangerous ball into the back post for an Iberos defender to put into his own net with 2 players in orange eagerly waiting.MUFC finished the game strongly with all 22 players playing a key part in the win. All three teams will have their final league game this weekend before heading home for the Christmas holidays.
