April 2016 Update
MUFC have been extremely busy the last few weeks and apologize for the tardiness of our updates. We have lots of exciting things happening both on & off the field. As most teams are winding down their season, MUFC are continuing to work tirelessly to get the best experience and exposure for our players. After coming off a strong European tour, we are looking to end our inaugural campaign on the highest possible note. With a recent 4-2 loss to U.D San Pedro (3rd Division) 1st team, MUFC bounced back with a comfortable 3-0 win over San Pedro’s U23’s team. These games were good preparation for when MUFC will play in its first international friendly, versus a strong Gibraltar U19 team (Date TBC).Our senior side has wrapped up league play, finishing just 1 place outside the playoff positions to be promoted. With a season that has been strained by injuries, we are proud with our style of play and end product, which is difficult to showcase against such strong, physical opposition. It has been a great learning experience, playing local opposition on a weekly basis. Our players have certainly grown and developed their understanding of the game in which has gave them a different perspective of the game.MUFC U18’s have 3 games left of their season, after a strong unbeaten 2015 our U18’s have struggled for rhythm this second half of the season. The main reason for this, is having a large core group of U18’s being promoted to the Senior team for some outstanding performances. Max Pochobradsky, Cristian Navarro & Zack Becker have been solid consistent performers for both the U18’s & Senior side this spring. The U18’s have also had to finish the season without Captain Rune Alvardo who was picked up by U.D San Pedro’s U23’s to help them with their playoff hopes. Rune joins fellow MUFC players; Doug Stevenson, John Rogers, Kyo Adachi & Zack La Case. MUFC are currently 3rd in their league, while they will push to gather all 9 points available for them while continuing to play the correct way.
